Employer and Apprentice in Tasmania Makes Good Business Sense

Bricklayer employer incentives in Tasmania are available to not only assist you in taking on - but keeping on, a bricklaying apprentice. Below are some of the bricklayer employer incentives on offer.

ABBTF Brickstart Subsidy has changed from 1 July 2011.

NEW bricklaying apprentices with an original start date from 1 July 2011, the subsidy is $4,000 over the term of the apprenticeship.
Apprentices with an original start date on or before 30 June 2011 remain on the exisiting rate/s, terms and conditions previously applicable.

Direct and Group Training Organisation Employment of a TAS Apprentice

Up to $16,000 good reasons to employ a TAS apprentice bricklayer!

ABBTF Brickstart Subsidy provides up to $4,000 in apprentice wage support over three years for bricklayers and group training organisations employing bricklaying apprentices. Good quality young people are ready and keen to start an apprenticeship in Tasmania and add value to your business. Many have completed industry sponsored Step Out Programs for school students or pre-apprenticeship/pre-vocational training in bricklaying at TAFE.

TAS Apprentice Direct Employment

ABBTF Brickstart Bonus is paid on completion of year one $1,000, completion of year two $1,000 and completion of year three $2,000, a total subsidy of $4,000.

TAS Apprentice Group Training Employment

ABBTF Brickstart Subsidy is also available through Group Training Organisations (GTO's)  and enables them to pass on up to $1,000 in the first year, up to $1,000 in the second year and up to $2,000 in the third year by way of a reduced charge out rate - a total subsidy of up to $4,000 to the host employer. This is available to bricklayers and builders employing a bricklaying apprentice through a GTO.

Group Training Organisations may also pass on benefits from TBCITB and the Federal Government.  The total current benefits available in TAS are up to $16,000.  Check locations for Group Training Organisations in Tasmania

Federal Government Support

$4,000* is available for new apprentices, $1,500 after three months and $2,500 on completion of the apprenticeship.

$3,750* is available for hiring Out of Trade apprentices, $750 after three months and $2,500 on completion of the apprenticeship.

*Payment of these incentives is subject to employers and their apprentices meeting prescribed eligibility criteria.  If an apprentice has prior qualifications obtained in the past, this may impact on the incentives available.  There are also a number of additional incentives available that are paid to the employer in certain circumstances eg. additional School Based Apprenticeships incentive, assistance for Australian Apprentices with disabilities, etc.
