Whether you’re in your first or last year of the apprenticeship, or anywhere in between, here’s your opportunity to test your skills for your own sake and against bricklaying apprentice competitors in the trade.

Australian Bricklaying Champ gets plenty of local support in lead up to International

I visited Trystan Sammut onsite in Ballarat recently to see how preparations were going for the October International WorldSkills event, where he’ll be representing Australia in Bricklaying. Trystan works for Lawler Bricklaying of Ballarat and when we caught up he was working locally, at the Eureka Stadium, home of the VFL Roosters although he can be anywhere in the State, from his home base to Caulfield in Melbourne’s suburbs – where ever he’s needed. Stage one of the $15 million Eureka Stadium enlargement project includes a 5,000-seat grandstand, with the stadium capacity of around 11,000.

Dean Pearson Wins Community Junior Cricket WA Coaching award

Congratulations go to ABBTF’s WA State Manager who was last week presented with the Community Junior Cricket Coach of the Year Award 2016-17 for the Greater Perth metro region. Dean Pearson was selected from a field of 7 nominations representing 30+ junior squads that make up the Community Junior Cricket Council competition. The junior teams play a mix of 54 overs and Twenty20 cricket and 11 of Dean’s squad of 14 also play District Cricket, so it’s fair to say they’re an enthusiastic lot – playing all weekend.
