ABBTF Try-a-Trade Draws a Crowd at the 2015 Exhibit Careers Expo in Perth

Banner Image wth CaptionThis weekend the Perth Convention Centre hosted the 2015 Exhibit Careers Expo.

More than 10,000 students, parents and the general public visited the venue to get careers and training advice from industry experts such as the ABBTF.

This year ABBTF expanded our presence to incorporate a WorldSkills Australia demonstration, in the form of a VETis project.

Coupled with a very successful bricklaying Try-a-Trade and a Lego table for the younger ones, it was non stop from Thursday to Sunday.

The true success of our presence at this and every expo we attend comes from collective support from industry.

This year business’s that came along to offer support, career guidance and opportunity included ABN, HIA, Home Group WA, MEGT, Midland Brick and Polytechnic West.

Apprentices where also on hand to help with the Try-a-Trade, participate in the project and offer advice to youth and reflect on their own trade training experiences.  They worked tirelessly all weekend and should be congratulated.  They are Rebecca Guest and Dylan Mathewson from ABN and Emma Burgess from Home Group WA.

I would like to thank everyone that came along to support this expo as we recorded many “expressions of interest” in terms of Bricklaying Apprenticeship pre-entry training.
