Colourful Mackay bricklayer Col Sommerfeld has joined the ‘Tradies Go Pink 2014’ campaign for breast cancer support and research.   Get involved and follow the fun on Facebook too.

Well known in the region for his generosity, Col aims to raise $10,000 for the Jane McGrath Foundation which raises money to fund McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia. Thanks to support from businesses and individuals in his local region Col is getting close to reaching his goal. If you’d like to follow his progress and better still, donate, check out the link to the ‘Everyday Hero’ website .

Col’s been sporting impressive dreadlocks for the last five years, but he’s pledged to have them dyed pink and shaved off on Sunday 9 February at Harrup Park, Mackay, along with fellow dreadlocked tradie James ‘Yogie’ Roger. The community event promises to be a fun day out with live entertainment, competitions, jumping castle and sausage sizzle.  Check out the website for all the details of the fundraising event and the ‘before’ pictures of the heroic tradies!
