High Quality Work & Apprenticeship Training Makes Good Business Sense

The John Hobson Constructions crew, taking a hard earned break.

John Hobson Constructions, a local bricklaying crew on the north side of Brisbane, is looking forward to a well-earned Christmas break after another busy year in the house building industry.

John, who began his career in 2001 as a labourer, took the step up into bricklaying and completed his apprenticeship in 2006. It wasn’t long before his talents in bricklaying were recognised by a builder and he started up his own business shortly after.

The Company has grown steadily with a permanent crew of seven now working together like a well-oiled machine.  All but one of the gang is under the age of 30 showing that there is a new generation of bricklayers making its presence felt in the industry.  (Read about this new generation here.)

John has always been a firm believer in apprentices and has had two complete their course this year.  Another is in his third year and with demand increasing in the last few months John is looking to start another apprentice in the New Year.

High standards are a top priority for John and his expectation of the gang is to achieve a quality finish which both the builder and the owner will be impressed with.  John has an excellent reputation and dislikes it when people put down bricklayers due to a small minority of ‘tradies’ who don’t take pride in their work. “Bricklaying is a craft not just a trade” says John.  “We have high standards and will continue to promote bricklaying in this way.”

Bricklayer and Apprentice really does Make Good Business Sense!
