ABBTF bricklaying promotional campaigns over the summer have featured James Eyre, a fresh-faced South Australian apprentice. The photo of James preparing to construct a brick arch using a template has captured a lot of attention from many young people around the country.
We know that behind those cheeky good looks is a talented, hardworking apprentice who is loving the outdoors and being part of a team constructing great brick work. James’ friendly face and love of the trade has drawn many young people to our promotion to consider a career in construction via bricklaying.
James is apprenticed to bricklayer Phil Powell and started with fellow apprentice Owen Stewart. James and Owen attend TAFE SA at Tonsley Park and are making great progress.
Not only has James featured in the ABBTF National Pre-Christmas campaign – “Get the Job Sorted and Chill this Summer”, but also in the follow-up promotion in January and February: “Crunch Time to Choose a Tertiary Course”.
The Become a Bricklayer website has received hundreds of hits and comments over the course of these campaigns with a number of people starting pre-entry training or signing up immediately into an apprenticeship.
