ABBTF congratulates now qualified Koli Fisiikaile, who was the well-deserved winner of the 2016 Outstanding Apprentice in Bricklaying in the ACT for 2016. The announcement was made at the ACT Regional Building and Construction Industry Training Council (CITC), 14th Outstanding Graduating Apprentice and Industry Encouragement Awards. This important annual construction industry award night was held at Thoroughbred Park, Lyneham on Friday 19 August.
Koli Fisiikaile is now a Certificate III fully qualified Bricklayer and is employed by CDA Brick & Blocklaying, whose quality and variety of work can be seen in the excellent images on its Facebook page.
Also on the CITC night, Bricklaying apprentice John Barrett, received one of only five Encouragement Awards presented – well done John and good luck with the rest of your apprenticeship and your career! So, what makes a good bricklayer?
In his address on the night, the Executive Director of the CITC, Mr Vince Ball said “Our major problem is finding enough people interested in signing up for a Trade as we have employers looking to sign Apprentices on a Contract of Training.”
“CITC is committed to quality training and professional development for the construction industry and we encourage employers to maintain their commitment to the employment and training of the construction industry apprentices.” Great Bricklaying Subsidies for Employers
The CITC is the peak training advisory body in the ACT, whose role it is to respond to and inform industry on current relevant topics and to monitor and improve the National Training Package. The Council is made up of 25 members from employer organisations and employers; employee organisations and employees; Government; and Registered Training Organisations.
