New South Wales to Focus on Apprenticeship Opportunities

A recent report by the New South Wales government has shed light on changes to NSW Fee-Free Apprenticeships to be implemented from July 1st 2018.

The recent signing onto the Skilling Australian Fund National Partnership by the NSW government shows commitment and focus into growing the number of apprentices throughout the state says Minister Andrews.

“An apprenticeship isn’t just about training, it’s the first step in a new paid career,” said Minister Andrews. In Australia’s current climate, apprenticeships are proving vital to employment rates and the construction industry.

The $285 million initiative is set to address skill shortages in Australia by making apprenticeship training fee-free in NSW. The hope is that removing fees will make it easier for employers to hire apprenticeships and encourage more people to then take up apprenticeships says the NSW Government.

Our own NSW regional manager, Brendan Coyle says “It is great to see the government supporting the youth to further their employment prospects. It allows them to go on to do any trade, bricklaying especially, and will give them the opportunities to work and travel anywhere in the world when they have completed their trade, it did for me”
