Have you ever looked at the Bricklaying/Blocklaying Apprenticeship Certificate III course and thought it needed changes? Well, here’s your opportunity to review the recommendations of the Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council (CPSISC) for the redrafting of our Apprenticeship qualification. You’ll have to hurry though, feedback closes this Wednesday November 18.
ABBTF has been assisting with this important work by facilitating three day workshops in Queensland and Western Australia. Local Subject Matter Experts led the work aimed at applying much needed changes to many units within the qualification. A major objective for the redesign of Certificate III in Brick/Blocklaying is to meet the latest industry needs and standards for more robust and consistent training delivery and assessment, nationwide.
Special emphasis has been given to local manufacturer’s specifications and guidelines particularly in the area of selecting, gauging, identifying, blending and cleaning of brickwork. Corrections and refinements have also been made in relation to damp and moisture proofing. This re-design work also includes some recommended changes to the structure of the qualification itself.
The draft of the qualification and 20 units of competency are now available for stakeholders to view and provide feedback via the CPSISC website.
To view and download the re-designed qualifications draft click HERE and scroll through the trades until you reach Unit Code CPC30111 Bricklaying/Blocklaying, where you can download the 20 modules and the also download the two feedback forms for the Qualification and for the training modules.
As it states on the feedback forms, it is very important that all feedback be submitted in WORD format using the feedback forms provided on the CPSISC website and that they be emailed to:
