Australian Bricklaying Champ gets plenty of local support in lead up to International

I visited Trystan Sammut onsite in Ballarat recently to see how preparations were going for the October International WorldSkills event, where he’ll be representing Australia in Bricklaying. Trystan works for Lawler Bricklaying of Ballarat and when we caught up he was working locally, at the Eureka Stadium, home of the VFL Roosters although he can be anywhere in the State, from his home base to Caulfield in Melbourne’s suburbs – where ever he’s needed. Stage one of the $15 million Eureka Stadium enlargement project includes a 5,000-seat grandstand, with the stadium capacity of around 11,000.

A Well-Deserved, Outstanding Apprentice: Nicholas Coci

Much has been written about 18 year old ABN Bricklaying apprentice Nicholas Coci’s accomplishments in 2014.

Some of these outstanding results include his impressive performance at the WorldSkills Australia national bricklaying competition this year where he was placed third and won the ABBTF “Gun Trowel” trophy, plus winning the WA ABBTF best direct indenture bricklaying apprentice and Best MBA and ABN overall apprentice for 2014 – to name but a few successes!
