Think Brick Australia is currently taking submissions for the 2014 Think Brick Awards, the richest design awards in Australia with over $70,000 pool of prizes.
This year the awards are even bigger and better and will reward architects for building excellence across five categories; recognising innovation within the clay brick, concrete masonry and roof tile industry.
Along with the $10,000 cash prize for each category, a Grand Prix Prize will be awarded to the overall best entry across all five categories. The winner will win two Business Class tickets to Venice Biennale 2016.
The Award Categories and links to the category entry pages are:
- Horbury Hunt Residential – Clay brick
- Horbury Hunt Commercial – Clay brick
- Bruce Mackenzie Landscape – Clay brick and concrete masonry
- Kevin Borland Residential and Commercial Masonry – Concrete Masonry
- Roof Tile Excellence – Concrete and terracotta
Kristine Shepherd, CMAA, RTAA Marketing Manager at Think Brick Australia said “The prestigious Horbury Hunt Awards in both residential and commercial designs will ensure that architects, builders, bricklayers and manufacturers are recognised for their innovative designs whilst the Concrete Masonry categories will recognise those building in concrete masonry”.
Due to architects’ demands, this year, the concrete masonry category has expanded to include residential projects in addition to commercial designs; and the landscape award has also been renamed after Bruce Mackenzie, the renowned Australian architect. Winners will be announced at a high profile Gala Dinner in Melbourne on 8th August 2014.
Readers of ABBTF Newsletters in Qld will recall our report on last year’s winner in the commercial category, Bellbowrie Swimming Pool.
