Why Would I Consider Bricklaying, You Ask?
In the 3 or 4 years you’ll spend undertaking the Bricklaying Apprenticeship you’ll be acquiring skills that will be useful to you throughout your entire life. Whether you stay full time in the trade, develop your career beyond bricklaying, or travel and try different things, bricklaying is always a trade you can pick up again or use on renovating your own home one day. It will never be a waste of time!
In the few years it takes to earn an Apprenticeship, if instead you had chosen to work in retail or a non-skilled job, you’d have to ask yourself, What skills do I have to show for these years? The Bricklaying Apprenticeship is time well invested: expert tradesmen are willing to teach you and pay you a fair wage while you learn. You will build your fitness and gain useful life-skills amongst keen and energetic workmates.
When you’re qualified, doors open to further construction careers and your own business opportunities or you can stay with the bricklayer who employed you. Many bricklayers are highly successful people, employing teams, including new apprentices every year or so as business grows. They are keen to see you succeed and they care about your welfare. Recommendations from people in and around the trade and family are so strong that over half of all our Apprentices say this has motivated them to join.
